John Langmore spent more than a year photographing East Austin . With an uncanny combination of humor and eloquence, John’s photographs reveal the culture, the celebrations, the people and the beauty of East Austin .
These photographs will instill not only an understanding of Austin’s distinctive Hispanic community, but will also force one to reflect on what losing this vital Community to gentrification will mean for our city’s future.
Exhibit will be on display in the Community Hall Gallery April 3rd – 27th

I visited the MACC this weekend to check out this exhibit… my favorite picture is one of a pug in his front yard with La Virgen. It was very interesting.. I wouldn’t have minded more shots of the architectural changes, as well as more of the regular food/ice house joints.. but overall I think it was a fairly good representation of the character of East Austin.
